THE Dimitris Xygalatas, Associate Professor of Anthropology and Psychological Sciences at the University of Connecticut, his book The Power of Ritual was shortlisted by the British Academy among other notable works.

The British Academy Prize has been awarded annually to non-fiction books for ten years. The Academy recognizes and rewards work that searches for truth and reason in the most difficult places and illuminates everything that connects, divides and ultimately shapes cultural identity worldwide. The award ceremony will take place on October 30th and the prize is worth 25,000 pounds.

A few words about the author

Dimitris Xygalatas is an associate professor of anthropology and psychology at the University of Connecticut and director of the Experimental Anthropology Laboratory. He was also a researcher at Aarhus and Princeton Universities, director of the LEVYNA research center in the Czech Republic and president of the International Association for the Cognitive and Evolutionary Sciences of Religion. His research has been published in more than 100 scientific articles. He has been interviewed for his groundbreaking work in many media outlets, including the New York Times, National Geographic, Daily Mail, Guardian, PBS, Discovery Channel and History Channel.
