A love affair, a wedding and a “consulate”

Most of the time, beauty is taken for granted – and that certainly applies to the 30-year-old Isabella Fulop. In her case, however, it comes with rich artistic talent and unadulterated morals. Her decision to become an actress was probably a two-way street. She was born and raised in Athens. Her father is the famous Hungarian painter Tibor Fulopwhile the late actor Costas Karras he was her godfather. What does she remember about these personalities from her childhood? “The contact with art has certainly shaped my personality from the beginning of my life. I remember watching my dad draw from a young age and really admiring what he did. Accordingly, I greatly admired my godfather when I saw him both on television and in the theater, and what I saw enchanted me. he confesses.

Following the natural course of things, he decided to start acting – initially to find an answer to the question “What will you be when you grow up?”but over time, the childhood vision became an adult goal and then reality and success. “The challenge wasn’t being an actor, but everything that the job entails. Be able to handle the sudden change from rejected to desired or vice versa. Unfortunately, it’s a profession where no matter where you are in your career, you’re forced to look for work twice a year. A fact that naturally creates uncertainty for you and exposes you on many levels.” explained. When I see her in the theater “Men Who Are Ready for Anything”, I think that she is a comedic actress or that comedy suits her more than drama. “I couldn’t tell the difference between the two. I love my job and everything that comes with it. I definitely feel a little more comfortable and easier in comedy, but drama also has its charm.” Recently we hear that actors are chosen based on followers or physical appearance.

What is your own experience? “Appearance certainly plays a role in both personal and professional life. I would say that I feel like I’ve been wronged a few times on both levels just because of how I look – and I’m sure it’s not just me. We live in a society that is very focused on image and quickly draws conclusions from it. If we gave people the opportunity to show us who they really are behind the picture, our world would certainly be a much better place.

This year started with the best signs for Isabella. After the sold-out performances, she is ready to break into the series “The Consulate of Julia” in ALPHA while she privately plans her wedding with her partner George Dervisi. Somewhere I heard that “he didn’t like him much at first”… “George and I have known each other since we were babies, since our parents were friends.” There was never anything romantic in the atmosphere and I think That’s one of the really beautiful things about our relationship, that the love was there long before we were a couple. “I don’t remember saying I didn’t like him at first, but at such a young age the game is divided into boys and girls, so I definitely preferred hanging out with his sister,” she laughs. How does she dream about her wedding? Romantic like her? “I am indeed a romantic, but I never dreamed of my marriage. My dream is to share my life with a person with whom we can be in love, have love and mutual respect.

And while she lives true love, she is now ready to enter the “Consulate of Julia” with a role that will bring ups and downs in the development of the story. “I start the series with the character of Despos, who comes with her sister to help with the wedding preparations, but it looks like they will be staying at Provio’s house as maids for a little longer. I can’t say too much, but I can reveal that Despo will become very close to her boss and this will further upset the already disturbed balance in Provio’s villa. Does she see any similarities with the role? “Despo is a girl with dreams and ambitions, but the difficulties of her life do not allow her the luxury of choice.” So she becomes a servant, which she doesn’t like at all. I wouldn’t say that I have any particular similarities with the character Despos, apart from the fact that as a person I don’t stop dreaming and pursuing my goal, no matter how difficult it seems.”

However, at this point, Isabella Fulop feels happy and looks forward to new plans. “In 2024 I finished my theater work with ‘Men Ready for Everything’, after a full season in Athens, a summer tour of Greece and then back to Athens.” At the moment I’m not preparing anything new in terms of theater, I want to focus on filming Dedicate it to “Julia’s Consul” and hope that a suggestion will come in the summer. I also wish that 2024 will be a year for all of us that brings us closer to our dreams and the people we love and who love us, and of course we manage to love and appreciate ourselves.”
