A few words about Jeff Loomis

Jeff Loomis was born on September 14, 1971 in Menasha, Wisconsin, United States of America and is best known for his work with the popular Seattle Greek folk band Nevermore. In fact, since the day they formed in 1992, his complex style has been at the heart of the band’s progressive and dynamic side, combined with the thrash elements that complete the puzzle of their signature sound. As the band’s only permanent guitarist, he is responsible for some of the most inspired riffs modern metal has seen in recent years. Taking cues and techniques from his childhood heroes and major teenage influences like Jason Becker, Yngwie Malmsteen, Eddie Van Halen and Marty Friedman, Loomis developed his own distinct playing style.

Due to his invaluable contribution to the huge success of Nevermore, his fans demanded that he release a personal album at some point, but this only saw the light of day on September 30, 2008, when his first solo album was released with the title “Zero Order Phase “. Loomis took advantage of Nevermore’s hiatus following the release of 2006’s This Godless Endeavor, which also led to frontman Warrel Dane’s first solo album, Praises To The War Machine, in April 2008.

The result of “Zero Order Phase” could be nothing short of amazing! A full instrumental album featuring: Ron Jarzombeck (Watchtower, SA Slayer, Spastic Ink, Gordian Knot, Happy Kities, Blotted Science) on “Jato Unit”, Pat O’Brien (Cannibal Corpse, Ceremony, Chastain, Monstrosity) and guitarist Nevermore’s “In Memory” EP and “The Politics Of Ecstasy” album in 1996) on “Race Against Disaster”, Michael Manring (solo jazz musician who plays bass on “Cashmere Shiv”) and Neil Kernon (record producer who also plays on ” Cashmere Shiv), playing a wild guitar!

At the age of 16, he applied for the position of second guitarist in Megadeth, with Dave Mustaine stating at the time that he was enthusiastic, but still turning him down due to his age. Two decades later, he was offered to join Megadeth himself, but Jeff declined in favor of working for his “firstborn child.” He was accompanied in his endeavor by drummer Mark Arrington, who was actually the man behind Nevermore’s drum kit in 1993-94. Once again, the blonde torturer of the seven-string goddess (as he used to use it, especially in the last decade) delivered lessons in overall playing that combined aggression, melody, technique, influences and personal sound. Undoubtedly one of the leading and most solid metal guitarists of the last 15 years. If not already at the top…
