The post-punk quartet from Athens presents their new single a year after the release of their first single “Push Forward”. self-titled EP.

“Push Forward” is a natural continuation of the foundations laid on the band’s first release, combining tense and parallel melodic guitar riffs over a dynamic rhythm section, achieving a balance between passion and apathy when combined with the lyrics.

The song’s narrative explores a journey of transition and self-discovery, where intense emotional outbursts give way to moments of reflection, detachment and self-deprecating humor. As the track progresses, he presents a modern take on the classic ’80s post-punk sound, but that’s not all, as the first act culminates in a burst of noise that sets the stage and sets up the intense shoegaze second part to come. nice guitars.

This is the first single from the commuter’s upcoming debut album, which is expected to be released on digital and vinyl in fall 2024. It was recorded and produced by Alex Bolpasi at Suono Studio in Athens and mastered by Greg Obis at Chicago Mastering Service. The release artwork was designed by AD Visions.

Commuters will give the starting signal for 2024 with the first part of the Greece tour, which will take place in April.

The Commuters started in Athens in 2019 as a music project led by Dionysis Koutavas (vocals/guitar), with the main influence being the post-punk sound of the Canadian scene, but also the new current of the UK. In October 2021, the project became a full band with the addition of Dimitris Koutsoulis (drums), Spilios Kakkas (bass) and Alexandros Kolokythas (guitar), and has since performed both in Athens and in the cities of the province and abroad (Hungary , Turkey) after sharing the stage with important domestic (The Steams, Deaf Radio) and foreign names (Unschooling, SONS, Dry Cleaning, Protomartyr). The band’s self-titled EP was released in digital format and on cassette in January 2023 by Bitter Tea Records, while their upcoming full-length album will be released digitally and on vinyl in 2024.
