New book by Donna Tartt

The Pulitzer Prize-winning author of goldfinch presents an absolutely captivating novel about childhood, innocence and evil. THE Donna Tartt signed her new book with the title The little friend that circulates from Diopter editions.

A few words about the premise of the book
In the city of Alexandria, Mississippi, a little boy, Robin Cleve DeFresne, was found hanging from a tree in his backyard on Mother’s Day. Twelve years later, Robin’s murder remains unsolved and his family still lives in agony. So Robin’s sister Harriet – highly intelligent, fiercely determined and heavily influenced by the novels of Kipling and Robert Louis Stevenson – sets out to find the murderer. Only with the help of Hilly, her best friend, does she transcend the strict boundaries that hold her city’s tribes and castes and delve into her family’s story of loss.

Full of twists and turns and “a vibrant and passionate humanity worthy of Dickens” (The New York Times Book Review), The Little Friend is a work of unfailing charm from an author of astonishing talent. Harriet (is) one of the most compelling and versatile characters you can find in a book… As for Tart’s writing style: beautiful, fluid, cinematic.
The Times (London)

The Little Friend, sometimes humorous, sometimes heartbreaking, surprises you, and especially when it makes you shudder in horror.

“The Little Friend” is sure to stand out and become a literary classic… It captivates you like a fairy tale, but denies you the reassuring certainty that it’s all fiction.
