The multi-award-winning playwright Joseph Maria Miró comes to Greece

Thision Theater, a theater for the arts, welcomes multi-award-winning playwright Joseph Maria Miró on Friday, April 12th. The Catalan writer comes to Greece as a guest of the Cervantes Institute to attend the performance of his work “The most beautiful body ever found in this place” (Born Award 2920 & National Drama Award 2022).

The performance will be followed by a discussion by Jousep Maria Miró with the audience (with consecutive translation into Greek) as well as the presentation of the book containing his work recently published by Ion Publications. The debate will be moderated by Georgia Drakaki.

Who is Joseph Maria Miro?

José María Miro is a graduate of the Directing and Theater Department at the Institut del Teatre (Theater Institute) of Barcelona and the Journalism Department of the UAB (Autonomous University of Barcelona). His writings include The Woman Who Missed All the Planes, Tobacco, and The Woman Who Missed All the Planes. Nerium Park, Archimedes principle, Wild weather and other.

He received numerous awards in Spain for his work, including the major Born Award three times. His plays have been performed in many countries, including the United States, Argentina, Mexico, England, Russia, Croatia, Puerto Rico, Greece and Cyprus, and have been performed theatrically in Italy, France (Paris, Normandy, Mousson d’Or). Eté Festival and La Comédie Française), in Russia and Greece (4th Ibero-American Festival of Theater Analogies). In addition, he was responsible for the dramaturgical adaptation of numerous works.

Miro has also directed his own works and worked as an assistant director alongside names such as Xavier Alberti, Xavier Pouzollras and choreographer Germana Civera. Since 2013 he has been a member of the reading committee for plays at the National Theater of Catalonia (TNC). His work Wild weather was performed in 2018 with great success on the main stage of the National Theater of Catalonia (Barcelona).

In Greece, it was performed at the Argo Theater in the 2014–2015 season Archimedes principle, which premiered on February 6, 2015, translated by Maria Hadjiemmanouil and directed by Thodoris Vournas. In February 2018 it was performed in Thessaloniki (Theatro Avlaia). Nerium Park by the Risk Group as part of the festival “Open Stage – Theatrical Voices of the City” under the direction of Vangelis Oikonomou. In October 2021, Nerium Park was performed at Theater 104, directed by Grigoris Karatinakis.

It was performed at the Skrow Theater on January 2, 2019 Archimedes principle Directed by Vassilis Mavrogeorgiou and starring Michalis Syriopoulos. The show received rave reviews from audiences and critics and continued into the 2019/20 season.
